International field hockey team: Indian men's team |
In this piece of writing let me talk
about our national game hockey pooled with the amazing talented players who
successfully brought several laurels and fame to the country all through
their hard work, dedication, passion towards the game (both men and women’s
team). Cricket being the most worshiped sport in India, I am very proud to be a
part of hockey as I hail from a district which hosts the world’s largest hockey
tournament.
Indian men's team in 1960's |
The Indian
teams having had players like Hockey Wizard Dhyanchand, Dhanraj Pillai, A.B.
Subbaiah, Balbir Singh, Dilip Turkey, Arjun Halappa Helen Mary, S. Omana Kumari, Rajbir Kaur and more — India
remained unbeaten as it won 6 gold medals in Olympic in a row since
1928-1956 (men). After winning gold medals for 3 consecutive years since 2002
Common Wealth Games, 2003 Afro-Asian Games, and 2004 Hockey Asia Cup — the
women’s team is referred as “The Golden Girls”. India is the
first Non-European country to be in the International field hockey
team and remained unbeaten till date winning the most number of medals in
Olympics, World cup, Asia cup and many other tournaments.
Since 2012, the national team is back
with full power play and working hard to earn medals in every
tournament and leagues. As they have already set a position for the RIO
Olympics 2016, both men and the women’s team are putting a lot of effort and
hard work to gross medals.
It’s
really amazing to see such an amazing game pooled with the most amazing players.
Success and failure is a part of nature. But hockey in India wouldn’t happen if
it weren’t the players, with team work, understanding, and hard work,
passionate towards the game.
Let’s all cheer them to be successful. Cheers
to Indian hockey team!!!
